Tribal Employee Injury Protection (TEIP) program– A Quick Glance
AMERIND's Safety Team recently completed an analysis for six TEIP clients (a two and a half year claim study) and found some trends in workplace accidents that will help keep our employees safe.
The Most Common Accidents Reported Were:
• Slip, Trips and Falls (including falls on ice, falls on wet surfaces, falls while carrying objects, trips over indoor clutter, trips over uneven surfaces indoors and outdoors, falls
from ladders)
• Injuries while Lifting (including lifting heavy objects, lifting light objects, reaching for objects and dropping objects while lifting)
• Motor vehicle accidents (including accidents at night, during the day, and driving in inclement weather)
• Food preparation (including cuts with utensils, strains while lifting and carrying objects)
Some Workplace Accident Prevention Tips:
• Prompt and Accurate Reporting- Ensure first reports are accurate, complete and
descriptive.
• Employee Training & Awareness - Conduct specific training for: Slip, Trip and Falls; Safe Lifting Practices; Defensive Driving are just a few! Ensure employees know how to do the job safely and are supervised.
• Investigate Accidents - Determine cause and adjust the procedures to be proactive.
• Personal Protective Equipment - Wear the right equipment for the job.
